Katie Zacharia Takes On Role of White House Press Secretary

Katie Zacharia, shown in Franklin, Tennessee, on December 14, 2025, will begin her role as White House press secretary. She is slated to hold her first press briefing on Tuesday. Zacharia assumes this position at a time when President Trump’s approval ratings are at historic lows. Republicans are working hard to minimize their losses in the upcoming midterm elections.

The administration is engaged in a legal battle with the press. Last month, the White House limited access to CNN, MS NOW, and Politico, perceived as unfavorable by Trump. The Justice Department is also investigating five TV networks that provide pool video coverage.

On social media, Zacharia, a lawyer and mother of four, expressed no concerns about the challenges ahead. She called her new position the “honor of a lifetime” and praised Trump’s policies. She stated, “His confidence is a true privilege, and his leadership is a blessing to this country.”

Trump lauded Zacharia’s long-term loyalty, noting, “She has been a devoted supporter right from the beginning.” He described her as a staunch MAGA advocate.

Zacharia, 41, an alumna of Pepperdine Caruso School of Law, has a history with conservative groups. Her resume lists roles including an advisory position with The White Rose Resistance, an anti-abortion group referencing Christian students who opposed the Nazis. White Rose aims to combat “the same evils, the same apathy” that existed during the Nazi regime.

Recently, Zacharia worked for the Trump Media & Technology Group, running Trump’s Truth Social platform. She has appeared frequently on conservative media like Fox News and Newsmax.

In an August broadcast on Real America’s Voice, Zacharia commented on the Lindsay Clancy murder trial, suggesting that “toxic feminism” distorted public perception. The trial ended in a mistrial, raising discussions on postpartum depression. She said, “This started with the advocation of abortion,” questioning when “humanity begins and ends.”

Zacharia’s social media has echoed right-wing conspiracy claims, alleging Democratic leaders’ involvement in pedophile rings. In 2022, she labeled former White House chief of staff John Podesta as “Pedo Podesta.” She also shared a post alleging Democrats “want to mask and rape your children.” NPR sought the White House’s response to these posts, discovered by the progressive media site Popular Information. Administration officials praised Zacharia but did not address these comments.

Fellow administration figures have commended her. FBI Director Kash Patel called her “sharp, fearless” and dedicated to the American public. Karoline Leavitt, the prior press secretary, expressed confidence in Zacharia. “I have no doubt Katie will do great work for President Trump and our country,” she mentioned on X.

On Fox News, Zacharia supported Trump’s disputed plan to import Russian diesel fuel, which faces bipartisan backlash. She applauded Trump’s efforts to secure GOP backing before the November elections. She hinted that congressional Republicans share responsibility for any electoral setbacks. “President Trump has made the case and delivered historic results. More could have been done by our congressional Republicans and Senate,” she asserted.
