Kentucky’s head coach, Will Stein, is motivating fans to create a lively and intimidating atmosphere. He hopes this will lead to the Wildcats’ first win against Alabama since 1997, when they beat the Tide 40-34 in overtime.
The Wildcats have only managed to beat Alabama twice in history. The first was a 6-0 win in 1922, and the second happened in 1997. On Saturday, a game simulation predicted a third victory, with the Wildcats winning 42-21, according to Yahoo Sports’ “College Football 27” video game.
Winning by such a margin would be monumental for Kentucky. Scoring 42 points would set a new record for the Wildcats against Alabama, surpassing their previous high of 40 points in 1997.
With players like quarterback Kenny Minchey and six others each averaging over 5 yards per rush, Kentucky has demonstrated the ability to perform. However, they face a strong Alabama defense featuring preseason All-American safety Bray Hubbard and standout pass rusher Yhonzae Pierre.
If the Wildcats score a few touchdowns, the energized fans could hinder Alabama’s offense and first-year quarterback Keelon Russell.
Coach Stein emphasizes the importance of fan involvement. “I want fans in their seats 45 to 30 minutes early, standing and loudly supporting our team,” Stein said. “Creating an intense environment helps showcase Kentucky football, alongside passionate fan participation.”
