Kenyan Residents Protest U.S. Ebola Facility Plans

Residents of Nanyuki, a town in central Kenya, expressed their outrage on Monday over plans to build a field hospital at Laikipia Air Base. The facility is intended by the U.S. military to treat and quarantine Americans who have been exposed to or infected with Ebola.

Protesters clashed with police and resorted to setting fires. Their main concern was the perceived threat to their safety. Many residents believe the facility puts their lives at risk and are determined to have their voices heard.

The demonstration highlighted the tension between local communities and international strategies to manage disease outbreaks. Authorities are now faced with the challenge of addressing the fears and grievances of the Nanyuki residents while also attending to global health needs.
