Kid Rock Honors Military Sacrifices on Memorial Day

Kid Rock began Memorial Day with a heartfelt tribute to those who have sacrificed their lives in service to the United States. Expressing his gratitude, he stated, “This Memorial Day we are remembering the sacrifice and service of so many who are not with us today. It’s a special day, and we’re thinking of them.” In a gesture of respect, he added, “Once again, I wanted to say thank you. God bless all of you for your sacrifice, for your service. Keep on Kid Rockin’ in the free world.”

Kid Rock, whose real name is Robert Ritchie, is known for his strong connection to Americana and patriotism. He is a fervent supporter of the U.S. military and has joined the United Service Organizations (USO) on multiple occasions to entertain troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

In a recent Fox News interview with Will Cain, Kid Rock discussed how his patriotism grew more profound after meeting sailors who survived the USS Cole attack by al Qaeda. He remarked, “It really started with the bombing of the USS Cole. They were playing my music when that ship got towed out of the harbor and 17 sailors lost their lives.” After the tragedy, he performed a benefit show in Virginia and donated the earnings to the families affected.

He expressed that honoring U.S. troops has been some of the most challenging work of his career, yet also the most fulfilling. He stated, “I couldn’t be more proud of.” Kid Rock has also shown his political leanings by supporting President Donald Trump. He even performed at the 2024 Republican National Convention, following an incident where Trump was shot at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Patriotism is a major theme in Kid Rock’s “Freedom 250” tour, which has him performing in several states alongside artists like Jon Pardi, Big & Rich, Parker McCollum, Brantley Gilbert, and Them Dirty Roses.

Earlier this year, Kid Rock faced controversy after a video surfaced showing AH-64 Apache helicopters flying over his Tennessee residence. This led to an Army investigation and the suspension of the flight crew. However, War Secretary Pete Hegseth later lifted the suspension. Hegseth publicly thanked Kid Rock on social media, stating “@USArmy pilots suspension LIFTED. No punishment. No investigation. Carry on, patriots.”

A month after the Tennessee incident, Kid Rock joined Hegseth for a ride in military helicopters in Washington D.C. Chief Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell explained in a statement that Kid Rock participated in troop events and filmed videos for several patriotic occasions.

During their joint outing, Hegseth described Kid Rock as “a patriot and huge supporter of our troops.” He also noted the importance of celebrating America’s 250th anniversary, emphasizing the bravery of those who serve.

Despite criticism labeling the helicopter rides as taxpayer-funded extravagances, Kid Rock remained unfazed. He told Cain, “I’ve been there for our military…it’s all on the Internet. It’s all there.”

As Memorial Day is observed, Kid Rock’s tribute to American heroes reflects the day’s significance, honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
