La Catalina marked her entry into AAA wrestling with a surprising debut in April, quickly becoming a contender for the Reina de Reinas Championship. Her swift rise culminated in a gauntlet match victory, securing a title shot at Triplemania 34. On Sunday, she ended Flammer’s extended title reign to claim the championship.
The highly anticipated match occurred during Triplemania 34: Night 2 at Arena Ciudad de Mexico on September 13, 2026. As the match progressed, La Catalina seemed to have Flammer cornered. Attempting a diving splash, La Catalina met resistance when Flammer blocked with her knees. This defense allowed Flammer to briefly regain control, sending La Catalina out of the ring with a dropkick.
The absence of La Hiedra, Flammer’s usual tag partner, seemed to disrupt Flammer’s focus.
The turning point came when La Catalina hurled Flammer from the top rope, landing a decisive hip attack followed by a running knee. This series of moves toppled Flammer and earned La Catalina the victory.
Flammer’s defeat concluded her record-setting reign of 1,128 days as the Reina de Reinas champion. She held one of the longest championship reigns in professional wrestling. The event marked a major shift in the AAA landscape during its marquee event in Mexico City.
With her victory, La Catalina’s responsibilities as champion began immediately, as a new challenger awaited her. Roxanne Perez secured her position as the No. 1 contender earlier, during Night 1 of Triplemania 34. Perez triumphed over Nattie, La Hiedra, and Faby Apache, pinning La Hiedra to claim her spot.
The apparent disconnect between Flammer and La Hiedra was evident during the event, impacting the outcome at Lucha Libre’s grandest stage.
Looking ahead, La Catalina is set to defend her championship against Perez at Worlds Collide later this month.
