Zach Ertz Returns to Philadelphia Eagles
Veteran tight end Zach Ertz was signed to the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad, according to multiple reports. The move comes after starting tight end Dallas Goedert suffered a sprained MCL against the Tennessee Titans. This injury prompted GM Howie Roseman to seek immediate solutions.
Ertz, previously a nine-year staple with the Eagles, returns after playing with the Washington Commanders. He left Philadelphia second in franchise history with 579 receptions, closing in on Harold Carmichael’s record of 589. The signing aims to reinforce a depleted tight end roster, as Goedert’s recovery timeline spans weeks.
While Ertz’s stint with the Commanders saw him achieve respectable stats, the injury curtailed his season. The Eagles plan to elevate Ertz from the practice squad after conditioning, enhancing their active lineup.
