LongHorn Steakhouse Faces Criticism Over Kitchen Conditions

A LongHorn Steakhouse in East Point, Georgia, is under scrutiny following viral videos that allegedly show unsanitary conditions in the restaurant’s kitchen. The images, spreading across social media, reveal roaches and food waste, raising health concerns.

Employee Raises Alarm

Sean Headley, an employee at the Camp Creek Parkway location since April, recorded the videos. He reported that he documented the conditions after repeated attempts to address them with management and corporate offices went unresolved, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta.

Really, it was the work environment and the conditions that we were working in, Headley told FOX 5 Atlanta. There were a lot of inhumane conditions.

The footage he shared appears to show cockroaches on the kitchen floor and food waste throughout the workspace.

Corporate Response

In response to the videos, LongHorn Steakhouse issued a statement acknowledging the issue and claiming that it had been addressed. The company stated, “The conditions shown are unacceptable and have been addressed,” adding that they have installed new leadership to maintain strict standards.

Fulton County health officials have announced plans to revisit the restaurant following the video’s circulation, according to WSB-TV in Atlanta.

Call for Broader Changes

Headley expressed hope that the incident might spark broader changes within Darden Restaurants, LongHorn’s parent company. He advocates for more frequent health inspections and improved workplace conditions, including fixing broken air conditioning systems.

The most recent health inspection by the Georgia Department of Public Health on August 25 awarded the restaurant a score of 90, an ‘A’. Inspection scores in the past two years ranged from 88 to 91.

The videos ignited discussions online, with many criticizing the kitchen conditions revealed. “That is beyond unacceptable,” commented a user on a Reddit thread. Another user emphasized the importance of reporting sanitation concerns rather than ignoring them.
