It’s the holiday season and Magnus Ferrell brings festive cheer with his cover of “Happy Holiday / The Holiday Season.” Ferrell, 22, adds an upbeat R&B twist to this classic for Starbucks’ new Holiday Blend EP. This seven-track album marks Starbucks’ first global holiday release in a decade and will be played in stores.

Known for his soulful style, Ferrell eagerly embraced the medley made famous by Andy Williams in the 1960s. He explains, “We aimed to inject a groove, making it sound uniquely ‘me,’ while respecting the classic’s essence.”

Ferrell, son of actors Will Ferrell and Viveca Paulin, loves the holiday season. At home, he enjoys spending time with family, which includes brothers Mattias, 19, and Axel, 16. The young artist, who began playing piano at age 5, says, “I go through my old piano book of holiday songs. Decorating the tree and creating new traditions with family is what I love most.”

Despite his father’s role in Elf, Ferrell reveals the movie isn’t a regular watch in their home because of a scene that upset him as a child. He favors classics like A Christmas Story and Home Alone.

Ferrell’s career took off with the success of his single “Asleep Talking.” He released a new EP, Groove Therapy, and received a Best New Artist nomination at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards. Touring with the Jonas Brothers, Ferrell’s father supported him, even proudly wearing a “MAGNUS” hat.

The new holiday collection showcases artists like Coco Jones, JYT, TRÍADA, Brandi Carlile, the Womack Sisters, and Leon Thomas. Ferrell is thrilled, saying, “Being part of Starbucks’ first holiday album in a long time is incredible. Sharing this with artists I admire like Coco Jones and Leon Thomas is amazing.” His Starbucks go-to drink? A flat white.
