Marist’s Haven Enselman Achieves Milestone with 1,000 Career Assists

Haven Enselman, a talented setter at Marist High School, achieved a significant milestone over the weekend by surpassing 1,000 career assists in her high school volleyball career, only six matches into her sophomore season. Enselman shared her excitement by saying, “It’s definitely a big accomplishment and has been a dream of mine.” On Saturday, she pushed her total to 1,034 assists, adding 25 assists, eight digs, and four kills in Marist’s victory over Lockport at the Mizuno Crimson Classic, held at the Great Lakes Volleyball Center in Aurora.

Marist continues its strong performance with key players like Michigan recruit Maggie Kurpeikis and Western Michigan commit Taylor Berg, both contributing with eight kills each. Kurpeikis and Berg were named co-MVPs of the tournament, joining Enselman on the all-tournament team. Meanwhile, Natalie Bochantin led Lockport with seven assists and joined teammates Hutsyn Timosciek and Kyla Mitchell on the all-tournament team as well. Lockport reached the finals with a win against Benet.

Despite her swift achievement, Enselman’s 1,000-assist mark went largely unnoticed without a formal celebration. Her coach, Jordan Vidovic, expressed admiration, noting the speed of her accomplishment. “That is fast,” Vidovic said. He praised Enselman for her ability to operate a fast-paced offense, benefiting her teammates with quick ball movement.

Berg acknowledged Enselman’s essential role on the team, stating her contributions help maintain tempo and intensity. Enselman’s impressive freshman performance yielded 938 assists. If she maintains this pace, Enselman could break records, including the Illinois High School Association record held by Sarah Kwasigroch with 3,659 assists, and her own program record at Marist held by Molly Murrihy with 3,075 assists.

Enselman also looks up to renowned setter Bergen Reilly from Nebraska, admiring Reilly’s ability to make the game look simple and effortless. Despite Vidovic’s challenging approach to Enselman’s development, she embraces the high standards set for her, understanding the enhancement it brings to her skills and character.
