Former Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene from Georgia criticized War Secretary Pete Hegseth, accusing him of having a ‘bloodlust’ after he shared a post about U.S. service members who lost their lives amid the ongoing conflict with Iran. Hegseth posted on X, conveying his condolences and respect for the fallen soldiers, which Greene passionately countered.
She cited his message as disrespectful, challenging the notion of ‘sacrifice’ used by Hegseth. Greene argued that the soldiers did not choose this sacrifice but were victims of a war driven by the administration’s support for Israel.
‘Sacrifice?? What the f— are you talking about?? They did not willingly sacrifice themselves. They were killed because of the war you, Trump, and the administration are waging on behalf of a FOREIGN COUNTRY, Israel. You mean their deaths fuel your bloodlust for a senseless war,’ she shared on X.
CENTCOM had issued a statement reporting the events leading to the American casualties in Jordan. It mentioned that U.S. and partner forces were defending against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks at the time of the incident. They also reported the uncertain status of another service member.
In a follow-up post, Greene expressed her condolences for the families and called for President Trump to withdraw U.S. troops from what she termed an ‘America LAST war.’ On the same day, CENTCOM updated that the remains of a missing soldier were located, though identification was still pending.
Another casualty was reported in northern Iraq where a U.S. service member lost life during a controlled detonation of unexploded Iranian ordnance. A second service member sustained minor injuries and was undergoing medical care.
Greene’s relationship with President Trump was once strong, but they parted ways last year, leading to her resignation from Congress halfway through her term. Her comments and actions remain frequently highlighted in media coverage.
