Michael J. Fox received the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award at the 2026 Emmys. This award recognizes a television-industry figure for their impactful philanthropic work. Fox attended the ceremony with his wife, Tracy Pollan, marking their first Emmy appearance in 13 years. The event took place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on September 14, 2026.
Fox received a standing ovation as he spoke about his 1991 Parkinson’s disease diagnosis, which he publicly shared in 1998. On stage, he recalled keeping the diagnosis secret, fearing it might affect his career and audience relationships. He expressed gratitude for the support he received, saying, “The support from all of you was so uplifting. It made me feel like I could keep doing this and I hadn’t lost what I do.”
During his speech, Fox highlighted his foundation’s progress in finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease.
“We are close to finding a cure,” he stated during the awards ceremony.
