Miss North Carolina USA Loses Title Weeks Before Miss USA Pageant

Miss North Carolina USA, Brittany Boltinhouse, had her crown removed weeks before the Miss USA pageant. This decision followed by the organizers was due to her violating the organization’s standards over a period of time.

Thom Brodeur, Miss USA Chairman, did not detail the specific actions leading to the decision. Boltinhouse’s reign ended shortly after her state victory, just shy of representing North Carolina at the Miss USA pageant on August 27.

Replacing Boltinhouse

Myla Hadley, the first runner-up, will now step forward to represent North Carolina. Brodeur assured that Hadley has the organization’s full confidence and support. The decision emerged from discussions with Boltinhouse, her directors, and the Miss USA organization. Although there is zero tolerance for misconduct, he clarified that accountability should not strip away humanity.

Brodeur acknowledged the public scrutiny and judgment Boltinhouse endured, highlighting that she is still a human being with a future. He affirmed that accountability does not equate to cruelty or finding satisfaction in someone’s downfall.

Boltinhouse intends to share her perspective in a personal statement. According to Brodeur, she demonstrates ownership, accountability, and apology in her upcoming message. He expressed belief in people’s ability to change through their actions over time.

Acknowledging the sudden change, Hadley expressed understanding of the title’s responsibility. Through a social media post, she highlighted her preparation for Miss USA since first competing locally, showing readiness to represent North Carolina on the national stage.
