Conservative commentator Scott Jennings shared new insights on CNN, reporting improved health for Senator Mitch McConnell. The Kentucky Republican’s health has been under scrutiny since his hospitalization on June 14, followed by a rehabilitation stay. Although McConnell’s office announced his discharge and ongoing recovery at home, he has not publicly addressed the public, leading to sustained questions about his condition and capability to complete his term.

During CNN’s The Arena, Jennings mentioned receiving a personal call from McConnell. He found the senator engaged and alert, primarily discussing political issues like the Michigan Senate race, Republican electoral strategies, and the Senate filibuster. Jennings expressed that McConnell seemed in better spirits compared to earlier conversations. “Being at home is better than being in the hospital,” Jennings remarked.

Jennings highlighted McConnell’s ambition to return to the Senate when sessions resume on September 14. “Their plan is to hopefully get him back to the Senate,” Jennings commented, noting significant legislative agendas pending before McConnell’s planned departure in January.

The senator has been maintaining political engagement despite his absence, conversing with staff and fellow senators by phone, and following legislative progress.

Amidst public concern voiced by Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear regarding McConnell’s silence, Jennings defended him as a private individual with a history of avoiding public health discussions. The senator, a polio survivor, has conveyed frustration with the public’s speculation.
