Governor Kathy Hochul and New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani have raised concerns about the Trump administration’s decision to withhold a substantial amount of counterterrorism funding from the state. During a news conference on Tuesday, they reported that New York has not received $87 million in promised federal funds.
This funding is crucial for enhancing safety measures as the state approaches the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The leaders stressed that this move endangers New Yorkers’ security.
