Tycen Proper, a 19-year-old from Ohio, faces charges of attempted murder of a federal officer and conspiracy to commit an offense against the United States. Federal law enforcement prevented an attack planned for the UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House on Sunday, according to court documents.
Proper is among several individuals arrested in connection with this planned attack during the event that was meant to mark the nation’s 250th anniversary. An affidavit reviewed by Newsweek reveals that Proper confessed to investigators about planning a coordinated attack on the United States government. This attack was allegedly set to occur at the UFC event scheduled on the White House lawn in Washington, D.C., on June 14, 2026.
The affidavit mentions that law enforcement interviewed his mother, who stated that he had been involved with a group online. This group claimed to consist of ex-military personnel with Christian-based ideologies.
The group in question allegedly harbored ultra-religious and antigovernment beliefs, as noted in the affidavit. FBI Director Kash Patel disclosed in a post on X that law enforcement learned about the potential threat on June 10. He confirmed that multiple individuals were in custody as a result, and the alleged planned attacks were thwarted.
Newsweek has reached out to a public defender representing Proper for comments via email.
