Olivia Rodrigo’s Festival Raises Millions for Women-Focused Nonprofits

Olivia Rodrigo surprised attendees of the Daisy Chain Fields festival with a notable guest. The event, held in Irvine, featured Rodrigo’s efforts in raising $10 million for women-focused nonprofits. A significant announcement highlighted that Melinda French Gates would match these donations dollar for dollar, bringing the total to $20 million.

Prior to her concert performance, Rodrigo expressed her gratitude for the artists who performed for free. She emphasized the importance of empowering women to control their futures and lead lives free from violence and discrimination. “I don’t know many people who represent that idea more than Melinda French Gates,” she said.

Melinda French Gates praised Rodrigo’s achievements. “Look at what you created,” Gates exalted. She encouraged the gathered crowd, noting that real power lies within each of them. Gates promised that the funds would continue helping organizations long after the festival ended.

Reflecting on her inspirations, Rodrigo credited Sarah McLachlan’s Lilith Fair for motivating her to create Daisy Chain Fields. Before the event, Rodrigo announced that ten organizations would receive equal shares of the collected funds. These nonprofits include Baby2Baby, Black Mamas Matter Alliance, and the National Women’s Law Center, among others.

Several artists performed at the festival, including Garbage, Doechii, and Bikini Kill. While the girl group Katseye had to cancel due to an injury, their members introduced a substitute performance by Devon Again. Rodrigo also shared the stage with Stevie Nicks, Alanis Morissette, and Sarah McLachlan for memorable duets.
