Grenadian police continue their search for a missing North Carolina woman, holding hope for her safe return. Elizabeth “Liz” Waddell, 44, a resident of Cary, vanished during a swim at Grand Anse Beach about a week ago, according to the Royal Grenada Police Force.
Acting Commissioner of Police Randy Connaught reassured the public that the investigation remains active. “At this time, the matter continues to be treated as a missing person investigation,” Connaught emphasized during a press briefing.
Surveillance footage provides a timeline of Waddell’s activities on the day she disappeared. Cameras captured her walking on a jetty at 11:36 a.m., entering the water at 11:51 a.m., and swimming beneath the jetty by 12:04 p.m. Witnesses reported seeing her in open water later that day.
Police noted that Waddell’s traveling partner appeared on surveillance at 12:46 p.m., later reporting her missing to authorities at 5:50 p.m. Connaught stated there were no discrepancies in the partner’s account and that police continue to receive her full cooperation.
Despite almost a week passing without sight of Waddell, authorities maintain their rescue efforts. “It is our hope that Elizabeth will be found and found alive and well,” Connaught stated, expressing optimism about her safety.
The police have urged local fishermen, boat operators, and residents along the southern coastline to remain vigilant. They described Waddell as a medium-build woman with short blonde hair and requested any information that could aid the search.
Connaught concluded by extending sympathy to Waddell’s family, relatives, and friends, reaffirming the hope for her safe discovery.
