In a revealing interview with 60 Minutes, Patrick Clancy, former husband of Lindsay Clancy, discussed the tragic deaths of their three children and shared the emotional impact of their loss.
During his conversation with CBS News’ Ross Douthat, Patrick revealed that Lindsay, who faced charges for the deaths of their children, described her memories of the incident as dream-like. She reportedly did not seek Patrick’s forgiveness, but he found a way to forgive her to avoid being consumed by bitterness.
She said it was like a dream,Patrick shared. And she remembered it much in the way you would remember a dream after waking up.
Lindsay Clancy, a 36-year-old former labor and delivery nurse, was charged with three counts of first-degree murder following the deaths of Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and 8-month-old Callan at their home in Duxbury, Massachusetts, in January 2023. Despite pleading not guilty, her defense cited postpartum psychosis as a factor, claiming she was not criminally responsible.
The jury of 12 deliberated for seven days without reaching a unanimous decision, prompting Judge William Sullivan to declare a mistrial earlier this month.
Patrick also disclosed his struggle with profound grief, admitting to experiencing suicidal thoughts.
Yeah. There was a time where I didn’t think I would live to see my 35th birthday,
he confessed. And I was completely fine with it.
