Patrick Mahomes Sr., who is currently on probation after a guilty plea for driving while intoxicated, has taken steps to attend his son, Patrick Mahomes’ games this season. On Friday, Mahomes Sr. submitted a motion in the 7th District Court in Tyler, Texas, as reported by FOX10. He aims to gain permission to travel out of state for seven Kansas City Chiefs games in Missouri, Nevada, and Ohio.
The motion clarifies that Mahomes Sr. is aware of the requirement to undergo urinalysis testing before and after traveling out of state. Additionally, he must inform a supervising officer each time he plans to leave. These conditions are part of his ongoing probation terms. In 2024, Mahomes Sr. pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated and received a five-year probation term. An alcohol-related incident in February 2026 led to his arrest for violating probation terms and resulted in a two-year extension of his probation period.
“He’s going to keep practicing just like he’s been doing,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid stated about the quarterback’s preparation for the upcoming games. “These are more like practice here, a lot of one-versus-one play these next couple of days.”
The latest motion indicates that Mahomes Sr. has completed a 16-week outpatient program and logged 160 hours of community service. Currently, he adheres to all probation terms, including monitoring via an ankle device, all of which local supervision authorities have verified. Efforts to gain comments from Mahomes Sr.’s attorney and Patrick Mahomes’ representatives were unsuccessful.
In the football sphere, the Kansas City Chiefs are gearing up for the season opener against the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football. Patrick Mahomes, two-time MVP, had surgery last December for knee ligament repair, but has been participating with the first team in training, despite not playing in preseason games.
