Phil Mickelson, renowned in the golf world, has lost his membership at The Farms Golf Club in Southern California. This follows allegations of inappropriate behavior with a staff member, as reported by Golf Digest.
Mickelson, aged 55, is accused of making nonconsensual and inappropriate physical contact with a female club employee. Sources indicate the incident occurred this spring at the clubhouse. The employee rejected Mickelson’s advances and notified her superiors of the encounter.
When confronted with the allegations, Mickelson was reportedly asked to leave the premises. A spokesperson for The Farms Golf Club confirmed to NBC News that he is no longer a member, without naming him specifically. They stated, “Following a staff member report of member misconduct, the Club provided immediate and ongoing support to the staff member, conducted a thorough independent investigation of the incident, and took decisive action.”
The golf club, located in Rancho Santa Fe, is approximately 25 miles from San Diego. Mickelson’s representative has not responded to NBC News’ requests for comments. A legal representative, Tom Clare, denied the allegations to Golf Digest, asserting that video evidence contradicts the claims. He remarked on misinformation surrounding the situation, mentioning Mickelson’s focus on a private family health issue.
A spokesperson for Mickelson noted, “Any misunderstanding has been cleared up. Phil continues to attend to a family health matter and is uncertain when he will be able to return to professional golf.” Back in April, Mickelson had announced an indefinite hiatus from competition to address these family concerns.
A father of three and married, Mickelson has achieved six major golf championship victories. However, his career is not devoid of controversy. He recently attracted attention for his involvement with the Saudi-backed LIV Golf series.
