Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to arrive in Nottingham to complete three charity visits. These appearances are their first joint events since relocating to Britain from the United States in August. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are returning to the city where Meghan conducted her first official royal engagements back in December 2017, following their engagement.
Significance of Their Visits
Their return has sparked discussions in Britain about the similarity of their activities to those of official royals, raising concerns about the potential impact on the monarchy. According to a letter from King Charles III in September, they remain “private citizens” rather than working royals.
The Community Recording Studio (CRS)
The couple’s first stop is at The Community Recording Studio (CRS), established in 1991. CRS provides young people access to film, video, and music production tools and training. The charity’s website states that its aim has stayed consistent: helping young people improve their skills and enter the workforce. CRS stood out by making professional recording equipment accessible to youth from deprived areas at no cost during a time when such resources were otherwise costly and guarded.
Harry last visited CRS in September 2025, where he emphasized the community benefits provided by the charity as an alternative to violence in the area. “Nottingham has been a place where I’ve heard harrowing stories, learned important lessons, seen resilience, and felt truly inspired,” he remarked. “The challenges remain serious and sadly aren’t getting any easier. Violence impacting young people, particularly knife crime, continues to devastate lives, cut futures short, and leave families in grief.”
The Hubb Central Kitchen
Next, Harry and Meghan plan to visit Himmah food bank to meet members of the Hubb Community Kitchen. This group volunteered to cook for survivors of the Grenfell Tower fire, which claimed 72 lives in London in June 2017. Meghan collaborated with the women involved to produce Together: Our Community Cookbook, with proceeds going to charity. In the book’s foreword, she describes feeling an immediate connection to the kitchen as “a place for women to laugh, grieve, cry and cook together,” offering a shared space for cultural bonding through food.
In 2022, on the anniversary of the Grenfell tragedy, the group shared how they had received a heartfelt message from Meghan, inquiring about their well-being and providing updates on her family while expressing thoughtful support.
Visit to Epic Partners
Lastly, Harry and Meghan will visit Epic Partners. This group supports youth through clubs, activities, and camps. Harry has been involved with the organization since 2013, and Meghan met members during their first joint visit to Nottingham in 2017. Epic Partners’ mission is to empower positive change for children and young people in Nottingham. They offer sports, youth, and mentoring programs for those facing challenges like Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and social exclusion, fostering confidence, skills, and informed choices about the future.
