Los Angeles Rams left tackle Alaric Jackson is set to face a two-game suspension from the NFL following an altercation with Buffalo Bills linebacker Bradley Chubb. The incident occurred during the conclusion of Monday night’s high-stakes game, potentially previewing the Super Bowl.
Footage of the incident clearly shows Jackson losing his composure and striking Chubb in the face during the post-game handshake routine. This action violated Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1, dealing with unsportsmanlike conduct. Chubb maintained composure during the incident, refraining from retaliating. He allowed teammates to de-escalate the situation, illustrating an understanding of the consequences of public missteps. Reflecting on the event, Chubb remarked, “It’s just emotions. They always catch the second guy. So, I let him swing. And then my teammates held me back, and I just chilled.”
Alaric Jackson’s Troubled History
This isn’t the first controversy surrounding Jackson. Earlier in June 2026, he faced arrest for felony domestic violence in Southern California. Although no formal charges were filed, the case continues under NFL scrutiny. Previously, in 2024, Jackson was suspended for two games for violating the Personal Conduct Policy when he recorded intimate acts without consent, leading to further legal action.
These recurring issues cast doubt on Jackson’s judgment, and his off-field behavior often overshadows his on-field abilities. Rams’ head coach Sean McVay consistently emphasizes accountability, a value Jackson has struggled to embody.
Currently, the Rams stand at a 2-3 record in the NFC, needing stability to protect quarterback Matthew Stafford. Jackson’s absence at this critical time creates significant challenges for the team. The Rams must find solutions as they navigate these internal disruptions to maintain their competitive edge.
