The Los Angeles Rams are making bold moves as they prepare for future seasons. The team selected Ty Simpson, Alabama quarterback, with the 13th overall pick in the recent NFL Draft. Shortly after, they extended the contract of MVP Matthew Stafford for another year. The Rams also surprised many by acquiring Defensive Player of the Year, Myles Garrett.
This acquisition sparked rumors about Aaron Donald considering a return to the field. In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, former Ram Andrew Whitworth discussed his thoughts on Donald’s potential return. He stated, “No, I don’t think so,” when asked if he would return to play alongside Donald. Whitworth added that if he were younger, he would be in training without question.
Whitworth shared that he keeps in touch with Donald, expressing his excitement at the possibility of his return. “I’ve stayed on AD,” he explained. “I shoot him a little text every now and then trying to get a feel. It’d be super exciting.” Whitworth emphasized both the thrill of Donald’s potential return and the importance of making the right decision for Donald himself.
He’s one of the most special humans and players I’ve ever been around. At the same time, I don’t want him to get out there and get hurt, but if he’s interested in doing it, I hope he does it. I would love to see it. That’s for sure.
Teaming Garrett and Donald would be a formidable pairing on the field, and Whitworth is notably excited. Garrett’s integration into the Rams’ unique culture suggests a promising season. “He’s used my gym here that a lot of the guys train at. It’s been great to kind of see him in the fold and be around him,” Whitworth noted.
Garrett’s presence seems to energize the team. “I think you’ll see an even more invigorated, excited, amped-up version of Myles Garrett when he gets in here,” Whitworth predicts. This favorable environment offers a chance for Garrett to shine as the Rams aim to build a winning team.
Beyond football, Whitworth also looks forward to participating in the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe. Whitworth mentioned the tournament’s unique atmosphere with athletes and celebrities feeling the nerves of competition on a different stage. “We joke every year,” he said, noting how even seasoned athletes get nervous.
The tournament brings a mix of fun and competitive spirit. “It’s obviously not what we all specifically set out to do in life and for our living, but it kind of reminds you of some of those feelings of just how much it means to you and the energy,” Whitworth reflected.
