NFL hearing officer Derrick Brooks lowered Alaric Jackson’s suspension from two games to one. The reduction occurred after Jackson’s altercation with Buffalo Bills player Bradley Chubb following the game.
The incident took place after Buffalo’s 37-34 overtime win against the Rams at SoFi Stadium. Alaric Jackson, after removing his gear, punched Chubb during the postgame handshake line. According to Jackson, Chubb made inappropriate remarks about his mother during the match. Despite the altercation, Chubb did not retaliate.
“They always catch the second guy, so I let him swing, and then my teammates held me back, and I just chilled,” Chubb explained following the game.
Jackson’s reduced suspension saves him approximately $934,555 from his $16.8 million salary, cutting his lost earnings from two game checks to one. He will miss the upcoming game against the Arizona Cardinals and can return in Week 7 against the Las Vegas Raiders.
In a league statement, officials acknowledged the unsportsmanlike nature of Jackson’s actions, violating rules around sportsmanship. Jackson has a history of league discipline, including a two-game suspension in 2024 under the Personal Conduct Policy and legal issues surrounding unconsented phone recordings and a domestic violence arrest.
