The ongoing friction between Israel and Hezbollah, backed by Iran, showed signs of easing on Sunday. This came after Israel’s government instructed its military to limit actions to defensive measures in Lebanon.
By late afternoon, no new attacks were reported from either side. However, uncertainty remains over whether these instructions could effectively resolve tensions, which recently led to deadly clashes and threatened a preliminary peace deal between the U.S. and Iran.
On Sunday, President Trump voiced his dissatisfaction concerning Iran’s role in Lebanon through a social media post. He urged Iran to halt its proxies in Lebanon from instigating conflict, warning of severe repercussions.
Lebanon has seen multiple cease-fires declared, broken, and reinstated lately. Disputes persist over determining what qualifies as defensive actions by Israel. Israel’s Defense Minister, Israel Katz, reaffirmed that IDF forces retain the authority to eliminate threats without restrictions.
The recent clashes mainly occurred around Tebnit and Ali al-Taher, strategic locations near Nabatieh, a major city in southern Lebanon.
