Reflecting on 22 Years at Fox News

Twenty-two years ago, a pivotal career decision shaped my path for the better. My earlier professional journey included time at The Wall Street Journal and CNBC. However, joining Fox News proved transformative, enhancing my life in countless positive ways.

On my first day, I was approached by Jeff Hark, responsible for reporter scheduling. He inquired about my family, knowing I had three young children. His assurance that Fox supported young professionals juggling family commitments was refreshing. Initially defensive, I insisted I could manage without requesting time off. Soon, I realized his sincerity. This supportive stance motivated me to work hard, knowing they had my back.

Fox provided a platform for growth and new challenges within its dynamic environment. During my first year, I sought to be part of the election team covering the 2004 presidential race. Eager to be involved, I was willing to report from any location, jokingly mentioning street corners in Boston.

Soon, I was reporting from the Democratic convention floor beside veteran correspondents Carl Cameron and Major Garrett. I was enthusiastic yet nervous. This moment marked the start of 20 years of election coverage for Fox News.

The experience at Fox has been rewarding, spanning worldwide travel and covering influential leaders. Most touching were moments spent on Normandy beaches with war heroes, sharing their stories from Berlin to Afghanistan. Fox’s deep respect for veterans fostered appreciation, a sentiment not found elsewhere.

I hold gratitude for my Fox family, including Lachlan, Suzanne, and Jay, along with others who feel like home. We share a patriotic bond, striving to uphold the country and ensure accountability in governance.

Martha MacCallum, the anchor and executive editor of The Story with Martha MacCallum on FOX News Channel and co-anchor of election coverage, cherishes her role. Since joining FNC in 2004, based in New York, she has also hosted the podcast, The Untold Story with Martha MacCallum.
