Reflecting on September 11: A Quarter Century Later

Twenty-five years after the September 11 attacks, the magnitude of what was lost continues to resonate.

A photograph captures a firefighter looking through an office building window, adjacent to the World Trade Center’s remnants, captured hours after the towers’ collapse. The scene, documented by Yoni Brook for The Washington Post, remains etched in memory.

Initially coined as “the pile,” the site evolved into what workers referred to as “the pit.” In my role, I spent close to a year stationed in a nearby trailer, handling administrative tasks for a construction company tasked with clearing debris. This position allowed me to witness the ongoing process each day.
