In early 2008, I became a part of Fox News as a contributor. From the outset, I was impressed by the network’s adaptability and inventiveness. This environment allowed me to delve into areas beyond infectious diseases, including health policy and the intricacies of Obamacare. My role expanded, enabling me to explore various aspects of journalism.
One of my early assignments involved traveling to Phoenix to assess Senator John McCain’s health records, a task that evolved into providing on-air reports. My reporting work gained momentum in 2012, and during a pivotal moment in the spring of 2013, I received executive approval to cover the tragic events of the Boston Marathon bombing. Two self-radicalized brothers executed a major terrorist attack, and I was sent to Boston to report on the aftermath.
During that assignment, I managed to secure an exclusive interview with a survivor at Massachusetts General Hospital. Her story was compelling. Despite her severe injuries, she was determined to convey a message of resilience, declaring, “We can’t let the terrorists win. We must stay strong and not be afraid. Boston is a great city.”
A decade later, I found myself reporting from East Palestine, Ohio, following a train derailment that exposed the community to toxic smoke. With a skilled field producer by my side, we interviewed affected residents who faced significant health challenges, revealing the ongoing uncertainties regarding long-term health risks.
At Fox, the team, consisting of executives, producers, and bookers, continually seeks out stories worthy of attention. They are the driving force behind delivering narratives that might otherwise go untold. We share a supportive environment, which was evident when the Fox management team attended my father’s funeral earlier this year.
Senior Correspondent Benjamin Hall is one figure whose exemplary work fosters a strong sense of camaraderie. Following a near-fatal experience in Ukraine in 2022, where he survived a bombing that claimed the lives of his cameraman and producer, the Fox team played a critical role in his extraction. Jennifer Griffin, the Chief National Security Correspondent, was instrumental in coordinating his safe return.
Hall recounted the harrowing events, sharing his thoughts from the day of the attack. Separated from his team, he was left on the road, trying to signal a passing car. Miraculously, a vehicle from Ukrainian special forces returned due to engine trouble, ultimately rescuing him.
Reflecting on that day, Hall shared poignant insights, citing divine intervention. He described envisioning his daughter, a vision that provided strength in his most vulnerable moments. Despite severe injuries, including shrapnel to the eye and the loss of a leg, he found resilience through these powerful mental images.
Hall’s experiences highlight the profound connections that shape lives, be it family or faith, offering strength in adversity. At Fox News, his bravery continues to inspire colleagues and audiences alike.
