A group of Republican lawmakers is assessing the situation involving Representative Max Miller after recent comments by Senator Bernie Moreno. Moreno suggested Miller should not remain in Congress. The comments came just before a key ballot deadline in Ohio.
Miller, who has served two terms and once worked in the Trump White House, is embroiled in a legal battle with his ex-wife, Emily Moreno. He strongly dismissed any allegations of abuse concerning Emily or their child. No criminal charges have been filed against him.
Bernie Moreno, Emily’s father, insists that Miller’s behavior is increasingly problematic. Moreno claims, “He should not serve in the House of Representatives.” Miller described Moreno’s remarks as political maneuvering, questioning why these concerns weren’t raised sooner.

Amid these allegations, Miller criticized Moreno’s timing and intentions, arguing that the matter is political rather than factual. He added, “This is all political.” Newsweek contacted Miller’s team for comments.
Political Reactions
Several Republican senators have weighed in. Senator Roger Marshall suggested Miller should consider stepping down. Senator Shelley Moore Capito indicated support for Moreno if he thought resignation was best. However, others like Senator Lisa Murkowski cautioned on the severity of such allegations.
Ohio Representative Jim Jordan downplayed the matter as a family issue. He expressed support for Miller’s congressional performance, urging prayers for his family during these tough times.
In contrast, former President Donald Trump reportedly expressed reservations to Miller about his reelection prospects, citing challenging conditions.
Miller’s Strong Denial
Miller persisted in denying all abuse allegations through a livestream, emphasizing his intent to continue his reelection bid. “Those allegations have damaged my reputation,” he argued, noting no verified claims or charges exist against him.
Miller shared legal documents online to counter the narrative. Emily Moreno’s representative, Stefan Mychajliw, criticized Miller’s public statements as misinformation, promising justice in court.
