HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has partnered with celebrity chef Andrew Gruel to debut a new cooking program titled ‘The Real Food Show.’ This initiative aims to promote healthy eating habits and address chronic health issues in the United States through nutritional education.
Former MLB All-Star Alex Rodriguez, widely known as A-Rod, shared insights about his current eating habits after retiring from professional baseball. Previously, during his 25-year MLB career, he consumed more food due to the high energy demands of playing 162 games per season. He often ate six meals a day, including substantial amounts of steak, potatoes, rice, and beans.
Now 51 years old, A-Rod is involved in business and broadcasting. He consumes a diverse range of food, ensuring healthy options are readily available along with occasional indulgent snacks. His refrigerator remains stocked with essentials such as water, eggs, spring lettuce mix, and various fruits like bananas, apples, and oranges.
Currently, he enjoys three or four meals daily, supplemented by protein shakes. While he keeps a few sodas for guests, he personally stopped drinking soft drinks five years ago. His fridge includes blueberries, strawberries, salad greens, broccoli, and hummus for late-night snacks.
A self-proclaimed ‘chips expert,’ A-Rod’s pantry boasts a selection of snacks, including barbecue chips, Doritos, Cheetos, Tostitos, Corn Nuts, and cashews, which he humorously refers to as his ‘best work’ at 2 a.m.
A-Rod’s dietary preferences exclude liver. He typically begins his day with eggs, oatmeal, bacon, a small glass of orange juice, and plenty of water. Lunch consists of a salad with balsamic vinaigrette, accompanied by chicken or fish. Dinner options like steak or salmon paired with sweet potato fries are favored, though he jokes about his lack of cooking skills.
He has never adhered to specific diets, appreciating food for the joy it provides. Reflecting on his MLB days, A-Rod admits he used to ‘overeat’ for energy. Now, he believes he ‘under-eats,’ advocating for increased healthy proteins, fruits, and hydration.
A favorite pregame meal included a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with barbecue chips and bottles of water. After significant wins, he enjoyed steak with a sweet potato or sushi. His comfort foods, showcasing his Dominican roots, incorporate rice and beans, plátanos maduros, and tostones.
For burgers, A-Rod prefers a Burger King’s double Whopper with cheese, although he favors McDonald’s French fries. He is an avid coffee drinker, consuming seven to eight cups daily, supplemented by Celsius energy drinks pre-gym and protein shakes with peanut butter.
Vitamin C supplements, a multivitamin, and magnesium aid his sleep routine. At the ballpark, he opts for Dodger Dogs or pretzels. His unique ‘A-Rod special’ combines peanut butter and jelly with deli turkey.
