The rivalry between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese continues to heat up. The two players were seen exchanging words during the Fever’s game against the Dream in Atlanta on Saturday.
First Quarter Tensions
In the first quarter, Caitlin Clark moved the ball up the floor and was fouled near the top of the key by the Dream’s Jordin Canada. Angel Reese then attempted to swipe the ball from Clark’s hands. This led to Clark waving Reese off, following an earlier incident where Clark hit a three-pointer in Reese’s face.
History of Hostility
This confrontation adds to a series of exchanges between the two players. Reese previously mocked Clark during a stoppage in play when the Dream faced Indiana on Thursday.
Past Conflicts
Last season, while Angel Reese was with the Chicago Sky, she reacted furiously after being fouled by Clark. Reeseās teammates had to restrain her as she shouted at Clark, who chose to walk away from the altercation.
Reese’s taunting of Clark during the National Championship game in 2023 established her as a key antagonist in this rivalry. This behavior suggests personal animosity rather than healthy competition.
Game Performance
Despite a strong personal performance, Clark’s team struggled. She scored a game-high 26 points but had seven turnovers, while Reese added 18 points and eight rebounds to lead the Dream’s 113-96 victory. The Dream currently leads the season series against Indiana 2-1.
