Saints and Cowboys Clash During Joint Practice

The joint practice on Tuesday between the New Orleans Saints and the Dallas Cowboys saw disruptions due to multiple fights. Despite these interruptions, Saints head coach Kellen Moore did not express significant concern after the practice.

Moore commented on the situation in a statement shared by ProFootballTalk: ‘All the chippiness of it, not the ideal flow of a joint practice, but we got the work we need.’

In contrast, Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer expressed frustration over the disruptions, noting his disappointment in the level of productive work accomplished.

Moore and Schottenheimer previously worked together as assistants with the Cowboys in 2022. Moore explained, ‘Schotty and I communicated, we know each other from working in the past, so we communicated.’

Moore elaborated on the nature of emotions in football, emphasizing execution over emotion: ‘There’s a lot of rah-rah and emotion to football, and that’s part of it. At the end of the day it’s about executing and running football plays. There’s a lot of loud people on a football field but at the end of the day it’s about executing football plays.’

He stressed the importance of focusing on the technical aspects, saying, ‘Take all the emotion out of it, watch it without all the rah-rah to it and we’ll get some good lessons.’

The Saints and Cowboys are set to compete in a preseason game on August 28.
