Sean Ono Lennon, the 50-year-old son of the late Beatles member John Lennon, recently announced the birth of his first child. This makes John Lennon a grandfather for the first time. “Okay so…Charlotte and I would like to announce that we have indeed created a Human Bean! His name is, Aurelius! Thank you!” Sean shared via social media. In Latin, Aurelius translates to ‘golden.’
For nearly two decades, Sean has been in a relationship with model and musician Charlotte Kemp Muhl, 39. Together, they perform as the band Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger. Sean is the son of John Lennon’s second wife, Yoko Ono, who is now 93. She was with John Lennon when he was tragically killed in December 1980.
John Lennon has another son, Julian Lennon, aged 63, from his first marriage to Cynthia Lennon. Julian once told the Telegraph in 2011 about his reasons for not starting a family, influenced by his father’s example. “He was young and didn’t know what the hell he was doing,” Julian commented. “That’s the reason I haven’t had children yet. I didn’t want to do the same thing.”
Sean and Julian Lennon were seen together at an event in Hollywood, California, in November 2021, getting a sneak peek of Peter Jackson’s documentary “The Beatles: Get Back.” The event was held at the El Capitan Theatre.
The newborn Aurelius is John’s only known grandson. Sean has shared several photos of Aurelius on Instagram, expressing his joy. Julian also shared pictures of his new nephew and half-brother on Instagram, accompanied by four red heart emojis.
Aurelius’s arrival has also drawn congratulations from friends and celebrities such as actor Bijou Phillips, director Jim Jarmusch, comedian Whitney Cummings, socialite Paris Hilton, and actor Lindsay Lohan, all of whom extended their best wishes on social media.
