A team is actively investigating a boat-shaped structure in Turkey, thought to be the remains of Noah’s Ark. The group, known as Noah’s Ark Scans, has completed phase one of their research by constructing a 3D model of the site.

Based in the United States, Noah’s Ark Scans is collaborating with international experts in archaeology, geology, and soil science. Their aim is to determine if the Durupınar Formation holds remains of the biblical vessel. They began drilling last month, extracting samples to test for wood.

The team hopes these samples will disprove earlier studies labeling the formation as a natural rock structure. They shared images of their 3D model, created using ground-penetrating radar data. A caption accompanied the model, stating: “A 3D scale model of the Ark as it currently rests has been completed!”

Following the 3D model’s completion, the team announced they are ready to start phase two. As explained by founder Andrew Jones to Newsweek, this phase continues their research efforts, focusing on geophysical survey techniques not previously utilized and investigating areas not yet drilled.

Jones indicated that the team’s approach for phase two might change based on soil sample data from phase one. Test results and final reports are expected by April or May next year.

This story is evolving with more updates to come.
