A group, including Texas chiropractor Dr. John Giusti, is missing after a flash flood in the Grand Canyon. Dr. Giusti’s wife has publicly pleaded for help as search efforts continue.

Dr. John Giusti, a chiropractor from Granbury, Texas, and father of three, was part of a hiking group in the Grand Canyon. On August 29, floodwaters struck Bright Angel Canyon and Phantom Ranch, where Dr. Giusti and others were camping. His wife shared on Whipple City Family Chiropractic’s page urging prayers for his safety and for the group.
The National Park Service (NPS) has been searching for Giusti’s group through both ground and air operations. Approximately 15 people remain unaccounted for, but the NPS has not publicly identified the missing individuals.

Dr. Giusti’s wife asked for the community to keep their family in their thoughts. She promised to share updates from park authorities as information becomes available.

Context of the Incident
The flash flood hit on August 29 around 2:30 p.m. It resulted in the evacuation of 62 people from Phantom Ranch and the North Kaibab Trail, though no injuries were initially reported. The flood caused the destruction of footbridges over Bright Angel Creek and led to closures of Phantom Ranch, Bright Angel Campground, and several trails.
Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs extended her condolences and confirmed that state agencies are working with national and local teams to assist in searches and recoveries.
