The Seattle Seahawks faced a challenging night on Monday. Before their 34-17 defeat to the Chicago Bears at Lumen Field, an unnerving incident occurred. Four UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters from the U.S. Army’s 2nd Battalion, 158th Aviation Regiment, conducted a flyover before the game. However, fireworks erupted prematurely, nearly hitting the last of the helicopters, captured on video.
The Seahawks’ troubles were not limited to the pregame ceremony. Allowing 34 points marked a season-high for the Seattle defense. Previously, they had avoided letting any opponent achieve more than 200 passing yards. Nonetheless, Bears’ quarterback Caleb Williams threw for 237 yards, contributing to a total of 363 offensive yards by Chicago, exceeding their season high by 62 yards.
Seattle’s defeat by the Bears put them at a 4-4 record, dampening prospects for postseason play. Besides the defensive struggles, their special teams stumbled as the Bears blocked a field goal attempt. Offensively, the Seahawks managed only 252 yards, marking their second-lowest output of the season.
The mishap with the fireworks added to a disappointing evening for the Seahawks and their fans. Attention now turns to redeeming themselves in their upcoming game against the Arizona Cardinals, who hold a 3-5 record. Kickoff is scheduled for Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET.
