Senator Calls for Investigation of Trump Jr’s Foreign Business Activities

Republican Senator John Curtis has called for an investigation into Donald Trump Jr’s foreign business engagements and acceptance of gifts. These include a ‘lavish wedding afterparty’ funded by Russian oligarch Umar Kremlev. The request was made public through a letter addressed to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

In the letter, Curtis highlighted that the afterparty was held on a private island and was funded by Kremlev soon after his visit to China with a delegation linked to Vladimir Putin. Concerns were also raised regarding Trump Jr’s involvement in family-related cryptocurrency ventures, international real estate deals with foreign leaders, and investments in defense contracting.

These reports raise legitimate questions about foreign access to members of a sitting president’s family and whether such relationships can create actual or perceived expectations of favorable treatment.

Curtis suggested that these activities might lead to expectations of returned favors, potentially jeopardizing American interests and national security. He urged an investigation into whether private family relationships were used for financial gain or preferential access by domestic and foreign interests.

Furthermore, Curtis proposed that the committee subpoena both Trump Jr and Hunter Biden, son of former President Joe Biden, to discuss their business affairs. Newsweek has reached out to The Trump Organization for comments, but no response was received by publication time.

This situation continues to unfold, and further updates are expected.
