Police in Lansing, a suburb of Chicago, issued a shelter-in-place order on Thursday following reports of a shooting incident. The alert was directed at residents in the vicinity of the 2700 block of 170th Street.
Lansing police initiated the order as part of their search for a suspect who had fled the area. The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing around 160 pounds. He was reportedly last seen wearing a black do-rag, a black hoodie, and a white surgical mask. He was observed heading south from 170th Street.
The reported shooting allegedly took place at a chemical plant, located across the street from the Lansing Police Department, according to dispatch audio reviewed by Fox News Digital. In the audio recording, it was mentioned that law enforcement had deployed a helicopter and were attempting to locate a K9 unit. The recording also included an account that the suspect had fired at multiple individuals inside the business.
However, Lansing police have not yet publicly verified information sourced from the dispatch audio, including specifics of the incident or accounts of any injuries.
