A fatal shooting occurred in Mundelein on Tuesday, resulting in the death of one man and critical injuries to a woman. Lake County authorities have taken two individuals into custody related to the incident.
Mundelein police responded to a shooting report at an apartment located in the 500 block of Deepwoods Drive at approximately 11:40 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered the male victim deceased and the female victim with severe gunshot wounds. The woman was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for urgent treatment.
Authorities suspect the incident may stem from a targeted domestic issue. In the course of the investigation, police managed to gather details of a vehicle believed to be involved in the shooting. This information was relayed, enabling an Illinois State Police officer to stop the vehicle near the Indiana state line. A man and a woman from the vehicle were then taken into custody.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing as police work to unravel the circumstances surrounding the shootings.
