A shuttle bus carrying employees collided with a concrete barrier at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey early Monday, resulting in injuries to 13 people. The incident took place shortly after 3 a.m. on the Terminal B Departures Level 3 roadway, as reported by News 12 New Jersey.
According to reports, three individuals sustained serious injuries, and 10 others experienced minor injuries. Fortunately, none of the injuries were life-threatening.
Scene of the Accident
Footage acquired by Fox News Digital depicted the shuttle bus pressing against the barrier. The impact crumpled the front end and shattered both the bus door and windshield glass.
Police tape bordered the crash site as first responders attended to those injured. The authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, which remains unknown.
Following the crash, those injured were taken to nearby hospitals for assessment and treatment, as covered by WABC-TV.
Impact on Airport Operations
The crash led officials to shut down the Terminal B Departures Level 3 roadway temporarily. They needed to remove debris from the vicinity, causing the closure soon after the incident. The Port Authority Police Department requested passengers departing from Terminal B to be dropped off on Level 2 during the ongoing police activity nearby.
