Sneako Faces Backlash Over Controversial Livestream Comments

Streamer Sneako is under fire following remarks made during a livestream in New York City. He referred to the city as the “Islamic Republic of New York-istan” and declared that Islam would be “in every household.” These statements quickly sparked condemnation from several right-wing figures.

The comments were made during a livestream on the platform Kick, as Egyptian fans celebrated a World Cup victory over Australia in New York, according to Fox News. Sneako, whose real name is Nicolas Kenn De Balinthazy, is known as a controversial internet personality and has over one million followers. Reports indicate he converted to Islam in 2023.

During the June 3 livestream, Sneako was surrounded by cheering Egypt fans, with visible drums, horns, and flags as he shouted “Allahu Akbar,” according to Fox News. In the video, he stated: “This is the Islamic Republic of New York-istan. Islam will be in every household. Inshallah the whole world will be Muslim.” He also commented on New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, saying: “Welcome to Mamdani’s New York. You see this city? You see how it looks? Inshallah, your city looks just like this too.”

Alex Jones Calls for Deportation

The comments provoked immediate online backlash, especially from conservative figures. Fox News reported that the clip gathered tens of millions of views on various platforms, including Instagram and X. InfoWars founder Alex Jones called for Sneako’s deportation, to which Elon Musk responded with a “Yes!”

Sneako did not apologize or distance himself from the remarks. Instead, he seemed to embrace the controversy. Fox News noted that he posted, “Every knee will bow. Every tongue confess,” after the incident. He also told Musk, in response to Jones, to “go back to Africa,” asserting, “This is my country.”

Sportskeeda reported Musk’s “Troubling” response to a different post by author Gad Saad expressing concern about religious demographics after the clip’s circulation. Fox News highlighted other reactions on X, with users suggesting Sneako be sent to Iran or calling him “a disgusting creature.”

In another X post over the weekend, Sneako wrote: “Islamic Republic of Ameristan. Inshallah, your household hears the call to prayer blaring through the window 5x a day.” This statement also drew a response from Alex Jones: “Now he is declaring America to be an ‘Islamic republic.’”

This controversy arises amid growing focus on Mayor Mamdani, whose election has sparked national political discourse. During his victory speech, he described New York as “a city of immigrants.” He emphasized its new leadership by an immigrant mayor, marking him as the city’s first Muslim mayor. Mamdani’s platform and his defeat of Andrew Cuomo have fueled discussions within the Democratic Party about its ideological stance. Newsweek contacted the mayor’s office for comment via email on Monday.
