South Carolina Republican Runoff: Evette vs. Wilson

Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette, a Republican from South Carolina, addressed reporters after receiving Gov. Henry McMaster’s endorsement in the 2026 GOP gubernatorial primary. The event took place on Thursday, February 12, 2026, in Columbia, S.C.

On Tuesday, Evette faces Attorney General Alan Wilson in a tightly contested Republican runoff to succeed Gov. McMaster. Wilson has garnered a last-minute endorsement from the president, who had previously supported Evette in the June 9 primary.

The unique situation has arisen where the president expressed support for both candidates. He announced on social media that he endorses both Pam Evette and Alan Wilson for the gubernatorial race, citing both as strong choices. “With either one you can’t go wrong,” he wrote.

The winner of Tuesday’s runoff will challenge state Representative Jermaine Johnson, a Democrat, in the November elections. Polling stations will close at 7 p.m. EDT, and the results will be available on Decision Desk HQ’s live feed.
