Taya Kyle Criticizes Graham Platner’s Remarks on Chris Kyle

Taya Kyle, widow of the late U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, recently appeared on ‘The Sunday Briefing’ to express her condemnation of remarks made by Graham Platner, a candidate for the Maine Senate. Kyle described Platner’s comments as ‘cowardly’ and criticized his alleged use of inflammatory statements against her husband as a means of gaining political attention.

Platner, a progressive Democrat challenging Republican Sen. Susan Collins, claimed Chris Kyle exaggerated his military achievements by targeting civilians. Taya Kyle dismissed this as a ‘cheap political trick’ that undermines the sacred sacrifices made by military families, including her own.

During her appearance, Kyle highlighted the importance of recognizing the contributions of military service members and supporting their families. She expressed disapproval of Platner’s tactics, suggesting his approach was a means to gain notoriety rather than showing true leadership qualities.

Platner made his contentious remarks during a 2024 episode of the ‘Green Beret Chronicle Show,’ where he questioned the professionalism of Chris Kyle’s actions. He referred to the ability to achieve high kill numbers as a consequence of indiscriminate targeting.

Additionally, Platner faced backlash for a resurfaced Reddit post where he derogatorily commented on a wounded soldier who fought against the Taliban. The post drew criticism from Robert O’Neill, the Navy SEAL credited with killing Osama bin Laden, who called Platner’s comments inappropriate and disrespectful.

Platner, a Marine Corps veteran, later addressed his controversial statements by discussing his struggles with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). He used his condition as a partial explanation for his online behavior. However, O’Neill challenged this rationale, asserting that PTSD should not justify spreading ‘vile hatred.’

The incident has sparked significant discussion, particularly about the integrity expected of public figures when speaking about service members and military families.
