Tensions Persist Between Prince William and Prince Harry Amid Discussions on Diana’s Legacy

Prince William is unlikely to reunite with his brother, Prince Harry, for a possible documentary about their late mother, Princess Diana. According to Piers Morgan, the ongoing tension between the brothers makes any reunion improbable.

“They don’t speak to each other and haven’t for years,” Morgan stated in an interview with Fox News Digital. The host of “Piers Morgan Uncensored” noted that William is “angry” about Harry’s criticism of the royal family through books, documentaries, and podcasts.

Royal experts told Fox News Digital that William and Harry have been estranged since Queen Elizabeth II’s death in 2022.

The Times reported that William will not participate in a film to mark the 30th anniversary of Diana’s death, partly to avoid conflict with Harry. William prefers to treat his tributes from the 20th anniversary as his public acknowledgment, avoiding further public projects.

Meanwhile, Harry is considering projects to honor Diana’s legacy before the milestone on August 31, 2027, though no documentary plans are confirmed. He has reached out to friends and family connected to his mother for meaningful ways to pay tribute to her.

Ian Pelham Turner, a royal broadcaster, mentioned Harry and Meghan have been relatively quiet as private citizens. The Waleses, in contrast, have been engaged with numerous public royal duties. This estrangement reportedly leaves King Charles III troubled as his sons remain distant.

Friends of William suggest he might observe the anniversary privately. Royal experts indicated that both William and King Charles are upset over Earl Charles Spencer’s memoir detailing Diana’s life.

William and Harry previously collaborated for Diana’s 20th anniversary in 2017, with William pledging not to speak of her publicly again. Both brothers have expressed how deeply their mother’s death affected them. Harry’s 2023 memoir “Spare” offers insight into his struggles with grief.

In a 2025 interview with the BBC, Harry voiced a desire for family reconciliation, emphasizing the value and preciousness of life.
