Satirical publication The Onion has released its parody of the conspiracy site InfoWars with a mock video depicting founder Alex Jones’s demise. This move is part of The Onion’s ongoing legal efforts to acquire control of the media platform.
The Onion has pursued control of InfoWars for over a year. This follows a court ruling where Jones was ordered to pay over $1 billion to families of Sandy Hook victims, having falsely labeled the tragedy a hoax.
On Thursday, The Onion initiated its first parody video despite not yet possessing the platform. Titled “ALEX JONES IS DEAD—Real InfoWars Livestream,” comedian Tim Heidecker impersonated Jones as he introduced viewers to the segment.
“We have leaked video now revealing that Alex Jones uh popped like a balloon in his car two months ago,” Heidecker explained. “That’s right folks. Alex Jones uh, the Alex Jones that we have come to know over the years uh is dead.”
The segment features footage of a black vehicle. Inside, a figure whose face remains unseen experiences an explosion. The video carries a warning for graphic content and explicit language.
“There’s a violent sudden impact from inside the car, essentially the uh body of Alex Jones uh disintegrating instantly and exploding out,” Heidecker narrated.
Alex Jones has yet to respond to the parody and continues posting new episodes of The Alex Jones Show on the site Alex Jones Live. His ongoing activity can be seen on his social media platform, X.
Newsweek sought Jones’s comments via email but has not received a reply outside normal business hours. This story is ongoing, and further developments are expected.
