Following his enthusiastic support for the New York Knicks during their playoff run, Timothee Chalamet returns to work. He joins Selena Gomez in a new animated movie by Illumination, titled “Not Alone,” set to be released in 2027 by Universal Studios.
Chalamet takes on the role of Joe, described as an introverted rocket mechanic living a solitary life. Gomez will portray Fran, a brilliant astro-botanist working on the world’s first plant-fueled rocket, as reported by Deadline. The movie announcement came during the Annecy Film Festival in France.
“When Joe and Fran are brought together to prepare for the inaugural launch of this revolutionary rocket, there are immediate sparks, but neither is particularly adept at romance,”
The synopsis continues with a twist: life becomes more complicated when three adorable aliens, Dunk, Welly, and Shirm, take refuge in Joe’s home. These aliens are on the run from an overzealous, yet clumsy officer named Zandro. They hope Fran’s rocket will help them return home safely.
Eric Guillon, known for co-directing “Despicable Me 3,” will direct the film. The announcement was met with excitement and surprise from fans. The unexpected pairing of Chalamet and Gomez left many astonished.
Fan comments included, “Insane pairing we all never expected,” and “Illumination doing a movie with those two is a pretty unexpected combination.”
Another fan humorously added, “Timothée somehow ends up in every major conversation,” while a social media user remarked, “This plot sounds so chaotic and cute at the same time, I’m seated!”
Amid the excitement, a reference to a rumor from the 2024 Golden Globes surfaced. Allegedly, Gomez wanted a picture with Chalamet, but Kylie Jenner reportedly did not approve. In an interview, Chalamet clarified that there was no conflict, stating, “Yeah, of course,” when asked about his relationship with Gomez. He also denied any issues between Jenner and Gomez.
While the photo rumor remains unresolved, audiences can anticipate seeing Chalamet and Gomez together in this upcoming film.
