Tragic Plane Crash Claims Lives of Tech Founder and Family

An Austin tech entrepreneur, Adam Robinson, and his family suffered a tragic fate in a plane crash in Florida. The crash claimed the lives of Robinson, his wife Helen Sharp, and their young children, Emma and Charlie. The Learjet 60 carrying them crashed in a Palm Beach County neighborhood, killing nine people on board.

Before the accident, Robinson had celebrated significant business success. He had announced in his final LinkedIn post that his company, RB2B, achieved $10 million in annual recurring revenue. Retention.com, co-founded by Robinson, aids businesses by identifying website visitors for marketing purposes. The company had also launched RB2B, which identifies potential customers visiting websites, and MoltSets, which provides business contact information.

“RB2B is $10m ARR with 1 FTE,” Robinson stated in his post. “MoltSets is almost $1m ARR.”

Robinson and his colleague Jesse Ouellette were planning a live debate regarding the potential merger of RB2B and MoltSets. Ouellette suggested merging the companies could diminish customer turnover and boost revenue, while Robinson preferred keeping them separate.

“My question: WHY DO I NEED TO DO EITHER OF THOSE THINGS?” Robinson questioned. “Honestly, I’d be thrilled if RB2B never grew another dollar,” he added.

The Robinson family’s tragic loss deeply affected their relatives, who described Adam and Helen as devoted parents who cherished Emma and Charlie. Retention.com and related businesses remembered Robinson as a bold leader and mentor who cared profoundly for those around him.

“Their warmth, generosity, and gift for making people feel welcome touched so many lives,” a family statement mentioned. “His loss is deeply felt across our team and the tech community.”

On the day of the crash, the Learjet left Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, encountering problems shortly after takeoff. Weather conditions are being closely examined as potential factors in the crash, with preliminary reports suggesting the aircraft might have begun breaking apart before impact. This tragic event marks a significant loss for the tech community and all who knew the Robinson family.
