Tragic Roller Coaster Incident Claims Life of Georgia Man

A Georgia resident, Hassan Kariem, 42, lost his life in a tragic accident at Six Flags Over Georgia. Despite surviving cancer and a severe car fire, Kariem died after falling from the Goliath roller coaster on Monday.

Kariem’s sister, Andrea Clark, expressed her disbelief over the loss. She shared with the New York Post that her brother had been in remission from cancer since 2015 and recently survived a car fire, making his sudden death incredibly hard to grasp. ‘He’s an amazing person,’ Clark remarked, adding that her brother was her hero and that his passing felt unfair.

Cobb County police identified Kariem as the victim of the fall from the 200-foot-tall roller coaster. His sister recalled how he was devoted to his family, helping to raise his fiancĂ©e’s daughter from the age of three. Clark condemned the online sharing of graphic images of her brother’s final moments, stating, ‘It’s tragic, and I feel like we’ve gone too far as a society.’

Witnesses described the devastating scene to WXIA, noting that Kariem was visible in a souvenir photo taken during the ride and tragically fell, hitting the roller coaster car multiple times. The hypercoaster, Goliath, reaches speeds of 70 mph with dramatic drops and spirals.

Atlanta Public Schools confirmed Kariem’s employment as an IT manager, offering condolences to his family. Six Flags is cooperating with ongoing investigations and temporarily closed other similar roller coasters as a safety measure. Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fall, prompting broader safety questions.
