Scott Bessent, the Treasury Secretary, has announced a new series of US dollar bills. These bills will feature the signature of President Donald Trump and mark the nation’s 250th anniversary. Bessent confirmed this move by sharing a social-media post from President Trump. The post included an image of a $100 bill with Trump’s signature.
Bessent commented on the significance of this decision, stating, “There is no more powerful way to recognize the historic achievements of our great country and President Donald J. Trump than U.S. dollar bills bearing his signature. It is only appropriate that this historic currency be issued at the semiquincentennial.” Traditionally, US paper currency displays the signatures of the Treasury Secretary and the US Treasurer, not the president.
President Trump has actively integrated his influence and name into various institutions across Washington and the country. Last year, the administration added his name to the US Institute of Peace and the board of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. However, a judge later ruled the removal of his name from the arts complex. Additionally, Palm Beach International Airport in Florida is being renamed in honor of President Trump.
