President Donald Trump announced that the tentative ceasefire with Iran has concluded. This follows an extensive bombing campaign conducted overnight in response to Iranian assaults on commercial vessels.
“For me? I think it’s over,” President Trump stated during a meeting with Secretary-General Mark Rutte at the NATO Summit in Ankara on Wednesday. “I don’t want to deal with them anymore, they’re scum.”
Although he mentioned the possibility of continuing discussions with Iran, Trump expressed skepticism. “They’re liars, they’re cheats. They’re sick people,” he commented.
The development may mark the cessation of diplomatic conversations initiated after both nations completed a memorandum of understanding. This agreement permitted the resumption of traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.
Despite the agreement, Iran targeted at least three commercial ships traveling through the Strait on Monday and Tuesday. In retaliation, the U.S. military conducted strikes on more than 80 Iranian targets.
